What I Did:

Today I just worked more on my project and finalized the style for my project. I am excited that I came up with an idea that has evolved into something with more risks, but also more benefits. Hopefully the class will enjoy the project!

Why I Did It:

Because two other people are also doing the same story as I am, I knew that I had to put a spin on my project. So now instead of just using one mode (the social media generators) I decided to use multiple so that my project stands out as a more complex project.

What I Did:

I continued to work on my project throughout the break. I decided to pick Prezi as the outlet for how I share my work to the class. I have a newspaper set up for the Prezi and I am incorporating a newspaper type of feel to the project.

Why I Did It:

Although I still want to work with the social media aspect of the current Beauty and the Beast theme, I also wanted to show a contrast between how this information would be presented today as opposed to back in the time period of Beauty and the Beast.

11/19/14 Peer Review Projects

Today in class we got into groups and talked about our projects together. Everyone seemed to like the idea for social media mixed with the story of Beauty and the Beast. I want to work to make sure that the project comes together cleanly. I also want to make sure that all the different types of social media blend together so that there is not a disconnect between the different sites I will be using.

Looking at the other group members projects helped me to gage my progress against theirs. Strangely enough, all the members of my group chose the same topic of Beauty and the Beast for their projects. One member is doing a movie trailer and the other is doing a magazine spread. We discussed the questions in the book and all helped each other think of ideas for the upcoming drafts of our projects.

What I Have Done & Why I Did It: 

Today in class I started looking into the pictures needed for my project further. I decided last class that I wanted to change the outlet for my topic of Beauty and the Beast. I have found a website that allows you to create fake snap chats, and I am working on setting up a fake Instagram account to take screen shots for the Prezi.

What I Have Done & Why I’ve Done It: 

Today I decided to change the layout of my project. I have been sick this past week, so I have not been able to take pictures of Virginia Tech campus to make a video. I want to be able to work on this project over break, so I decided to make a project that could be completed on the computer. Now I am changing it to Beauty & the Beast takes over Social Media.

I will still be incorporating risk into this presentation because I will be using many modes and sites in the project. I did not choose to pick one form of social media, but I chose to pick multiple outlets to add dimension to the project. Although I have changed my project from its original form, I believe that this option will be more entertaining and relevant to the audience I am presenting to, or the students in our classroom.

Mock Up: I decided to hand-draw my mock up. It is featured below. Because I do not have the photos just yet, I left out the sketch of the photo layout with words. I am better with using words, and it makes more sense for me to use this as a mock up with words — my artistic skills are not the strongest, so if I were to draw a sketch for myself, I would most likely not be able to understand it. Although this is very general, it is still beneficial for the organizational aspect of my project.

What I’ve Done: Today I started on my story board for my project. Because my project is a video of pictures, I did not feel like it was necessary to create a mock up because my project has limited words and layout features. I chose to draw out the mock up myself because it is easier for me to get my ideas across when I don’t have to worry about the constraints of technology.

What I Have To Do: Although I have a general idea of the type of pictures that I am going to use in my project, I still need to go out and take the pictures. I feel like when I am actually walking around taking photos for my project, it will be easier to see what I still need for my project. I plan to do that this weekend to follow the steps in my timeline.

11/10: Mock-up, Storyboard, and/or Outline.

11/10: Accumulate pictures from around campus

11/10: Research the other photos and music that I will need

11/17: Presentation Sign-up.

11/17: Begin assembling the iMovie clips and editing the project

11/19: Rough Cut for Peer Feedback; Project 3 Revision Plan.

11/19: Make last minute edits and tweaks to the project

11/21: Selfie showing yourself at work.

What I’ve Done: I have planned out a guideline for my project and I have looked into different sites to make my project come to life in a current setting. Although I originally wanted to make my project a video, I think that it would have a more natural and organic feel if it were with pictures set to music so now I will focus on this aspect for my project.

What I Have To Do: I still have to take the photos and put them together in an iMovie format. I will need to go to innovation space to rent a camera and then spend sometime on campus and off campus to capture moments that represent the theme of Beauty and the Beast which is appreciating people for their character instead of their looks.

What I Did: I brainstormed more ideas for my project — I feel like I want to do a video type of project or one with pictures and images. I was thinking about doing a real-life interpretation of Beauty and the Beast on Virginia Tech’s campus.

What I Need To Do: I need to work on creating more concrete ideas in the future and planning out exactly how I want to execute the project. I will definitely work on looking into other example projects like this so I can get inspiration from other works.
